Amish Woman Accuses Jefferson County Sheriff Of Kidnapping
An Amish woman said the Jefferson County sheriff kidnapped her while she was in the middle of a custody battle with her estranged husband.Wilma Troyer, of Bergholz, filed a lawsuit against Sheriff Fred Abdalla, Jefferson County Commissioners and several members of her husband’s family.Troyer filed the lawsuit this week in Jefferson County Common Pleas Court without an attorney.In the complaint, Troyer accused the defendants of assault and battery, false imprisonment, false arrest, kidnapping, civil conspiracy and intentional infliction of mental distress.Troyer has been in the middle of a custody battle with her estranged husband, Aden Troyer, of Genesee, Pa.In the lawsuit, Troyer claims she was kidnapped last May by Abdalla and driven to meet Aden.The sheriff served custody papers on Wilma Troyer on Sept. 14. At the time, Abdalla said there had been allegations of sex crimes within the community and that several deputies received threats from the member of the Bergholz Amish community.NEWS9 tried to get reaction from Abdalla about the lawsuit but he is out of the office until next week.Stay with NEWS9 and WTOV9.com for more details.
