Burned Building Possibly Coming Down

POSTED: 5:12 pm EDT May 9, 2008
UPDATED: 6:45 pm EDT May 9, 2008

There is a final plan in the works for the Barsee building in downtown Bellaire to be taken down the proper way once and for all.

The meeting is set for Wednesday, May 14 as it has been nearly four months since flames destroyed the building.

After the fire, it took almost two months for construction crews to start tearing down what was left of the destroyed building.

Since then, construction came to a halt, as issues of asbestos arose, causing conflict between the EPA and the demolition coordinator, Nick Massareli.

There is new hope as they could set final plans to take down the building that has been an eyesore to many people who live in the community.

NEWS9 will stay on top of this story and bring you details next week on what happens between both parties.
