The price of gasoline is steadily increasing, and Friday the price for a barrel of oil peaked above $126.Experts attribute the increase to tighter supplies of diesel, but boaters said no matter the reason they just want the cost to go down.Boater and worker at Martins Ferry Yacht Club, Brad Delvecchio, told NEWS9 fueling a boat is about 60 to 70 cents more than the average cost at the pump.Delvecchio said the cost of gas is a major factor to considering when figuring up a boating budget, and he said he wouldn't be surprised to see less boaters on the water as gas prices continue to rise.Delvecchio said on average boats only get about two miles to the gallon, and said shorter boating trips are going to become much more common on the water."You're going to see people asking the folks that are skiing or riding with them to chip in for some gas," Delvecchio said. But, in the end, Delvecchio told NEWS9 the cost of boating is one many people will bare, "It's a hobby and you always make room for it, just like golf, even if it's more expensive you just try to make room for it in the budget!"
