Harrison County sheriff’s Deputies are looking for two men who they say posed as Social Security workers and robbed an elderly woman.

The robbery happened in the small community of Piedmont on Friday morning.

NEWS9 talked to the woman’s next-door neighbor, Bob Habig, who heard her call for help and called police.

Habig told NEWS9 that he wished he would've been in his front yard when two men robbed his 87-year-old neighbor.

Habig was in his back yard feeding his dogs when he got a frantic call from the woman next door.

“She said, ‘Bob, I didn't fall, but somebody robbed me,’ I said, ‘I'll be right there!’"

Deputies said the men told the woman they were Social Security workers and eventually set their eyes on her handbag.

"He grabbed her bag,” said Habig. “She said, ‘That's my personal bag, you don't need that bag if you're from Social Security.’ He said, ‘I want that bag lady!’"

Habig told NEWS9 the duo ran out to a car across the street.

Police described the man who approached the woman as a white man, with a large build, about 50 years old.

They said other man was is in his mid-20s with a tall, thin build.

The men got away in a black mid-sized car with a spoiler.

Habig told NEWS9 that he hopes someone comes forward.

"I hope whoever it was has a guilty conscience,” said Habig. “I know they don't, because they wouldn't have picked on the poor soul."
