Quintuplets Born To Wheeling Family

A Wheeling native got an early Mother's Day gift, giving birth to four girls and one boy at a Phoenix hospital.

Hospital officials said all are doing well.

A spokeswoman for Phoenix Children's Hospital said the quintuplets born to Kathy Blatt, originally from Wheeling, will have to remain in the hospital for at least six weeks but doctors do not foresee any complications.

The children are named Annabella, Lauryn Sophia, Ronald Jay, Kala Raelle and Olivia Jule.

The babies were delivered Thursday morning and range in weight from 2 pounds, 3 ounces to 3 pounds, 3 ounces.

Blatt and her husband, Ron also have a 17-month-old daughter.

She was taking fertility drugs and carried the babies for almost 32 weeks.

Between 38 and 40 weeks is considered full-term.
