West Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin was in Moundsville Monday to participate in the ribbon-cutting for the new Grave Creek Mound Archaeological Complex addition.

A grant and money from the state Legislature helped start up construction on the new $3.1 million research facility a year ago.

While in the Valley Monday, the governor also stopped at the Bridge Street Middle School in Wheeling to view structural improvements done to the school with funds from a school building authority grant.

Pennsylvania Gov. Edward Rendell also was in the Ohio Valley Monday, stumping for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton at a campaign stop at TJ's Sports Garden in Wheeling.
