Memorial Day Events Across Ohio Valley
Several Memorial Day events are taking place across the Ohio Valley today. Here's a list of some of the events:Brillant, Oh Memorial Day celebration includes ball games at the new field, a parade, legion ceremony, music and food. 8:55 a.m. T-ball games begin. 10:15 a.m. Ribbon cutting ceremony for new field 11:00 a.m. parade with Legion and ball teams. Starts at Middle school and ends at the Legion. 11:45 a.m. Memorial Day Ceremony in front of Legion. 12:15 p.m. Teams line up at new field and Legion raises flag during National Anthem. 12:30 p.m.-6 p.m. Softball and baseball games.Steubenville, Oh 11 a.m. The Knights of Columbus has organized the annual Mass at Mount Calvary CemeteryWintersville, Oh 11:30 a.m. A service is planned at Fort Steuben Burial Estates, 801 Canton RoadWeirton, W.Va 11 a.m. A service is planned at the war memorial on Three Springs Drive near the former Weirton Steel General Office building.New Cumberland, W.Va 11 a.m. A service is sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3526 at the New Cumberland Cemetery near the chapel.Chester, W.Va 10 a.m. First service is in front of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars halls at Carolina Avenue and 4th Street. 11 a.m. Second service at the Locust Hill Cemetery on Locust Hill Road, right outside of Chester.Follansbee, W.Va 10:30 a.m. American Legion Post 45 and the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad will hold a service outside the post at 998 Main Street. It will begin with a small parade featuring the squad and the Follansbee Middle School Band from the Garibaldi Lodge to the post. There will also be a buffet lunch after the parade at the post home.
