A local man is in custody after deputies said he walked into a home with a loaded gun and threatened to steal children from a woman.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office said it happened in Carrollton on Overlook Lane.

Officials said the woman was in her home with her two children and their grandfather when 30-year-old Jason Haught burst through the door to the garage with a loaded gun he had stolen from a nearby house.

Officials said he grabbed the woman and tried to take the kids, but the grandfather was able to wrestle Haught to the ground and get a hold of the gun.

Officials said Haught ran into the woods where deputies found him.

Haught is currently in the Carroll County Jail awaiting a hearing.
