The doors were closed for the first time this Sunday at St. Pius, St. Anthony and St. Stanislaus churces in Steubenville.Bishop Daniel Conlon said the closings are a result of the decline of population, the proximity of the parishes and a lack of funds.Pat Defrancis, spokeswoman for the Diocese of Steubenville, said the new pastor of the Triumph of the Cross parish will decide what to do with the three buildings.Defrancis said Rev. Nau will take over as pastor of the new parish on July 1.
