On June 22, 2007 Buckeye Local High School senior Corey Casey died in a car crash.

It happened on County Road 7 in Dillonvale, Jefferson County.

Sunday night, family and loved ones gathered to remember the life lost and also to send a powerful message to young drivers.

Todd Mccarole, friend of Corey and passenger in the truck, survived the crash. He told News9 they were traveling almost 80 miles an hour when they wrecked into a guardrail.

Investigators said right after the crash, the truck went up in flames trapping Casey inside.

Casey's mother Carole said she hopes others learn from her sons accident.

"Go slow, don't speed or do things to try and impress your friends," said Carole.

Carole said she plans on having a vigil for her son every year here on out.
