MARSHALL COUNTY, W.Va. -- With no new information coming in about the death of 20-year-old New York native Leo Lanci, Marshall County investigators hit the ground again searching for more clues.Lanci’s body was discovered in a wooded area of the county in May. A special response team searched that area Thursday. The search took place south of Moundsville, just off of Route 2, near Roberts Ridge. It’s a deeply wooded area and investigators said they searched from the woods to the ravine for specific clues.Chief Deputy Kevin Cecil said the special response team was looking for any clues, but specifically a coat and a backpack. Investigators said they know Lanci was wearing a coat and backpack when he went missing. When they discovered his body, those items were missing.Officials said Thursday's search did not turn up any new information and they still do not know the cause of death. Investigators found nothing on Lanci's computer and said a previously found engagement ring belonged to Lanci's father. There is no word on why Lanci had the ring.Investigators are pleading with the public to bring any information forward that may help them in this case.Cecil said no matter how trivial, it could be the information that gives them a break in the case.Stay with NEWS9 and WTOV9.com for continuing coverage.
