Last week, police arrested 52-year-old Michael Harris on charges of aggravated murder in the death of Jill Howard. Harris faced those charges Wednesday morning at the Jefferson County Justice Center.Harris was arrested after investigators said new DNA evidence linked him to the crime. Jill Howard was found stabbed in a Steubenville alley in January 1987. Harris pleaded not guilty to the charges.Harry Howard, the victim’s brother, said he believes Harris is somehow connected to the death of his sister.“He needs to tell who did it if he didn’t do it but you don’t get blood on your car, your coat, outside your car. My sister was brutally murdered. She was stabbed 61 times. Somebody needs to go to jail,” said Howard.Michael Harris was originally arrested 10 days after Howard’s death in 1987. Prosecutors felt there was not enough evidence to go to trial at that time and Harris walked free until last week.Harris’ bond remains at $1 million. His next court appearance will be in front of Judge Henderson at the Jefferson County Courthouse.Stay with NEWS9 and WTOV9.com for continuing coverage.
