EMA Officials To Conduct Hazmat Study On I-70
Belmont County's Emergency Management Agency and several other officials will be out along Interstate 70 Thursday to conduct a hazardous-material study.During the study crews will log every truck that has a hazardous material placard.EMA director Dave Ivan said the agency wants to keep track of what types of materials are being transported through the county so that in case of emergency, it will know what safety measures to take."Gasoline or any type of hydrocarbon is relatively easy to deal with. As you start getting into corrosives or possibly poisons, then you've got a whole different animal to deal with," said Ivan. The study will take place from 8 a.m. Thursday morning to 8 a.m Friday.
