Golfers Hit Greens For 'Coats For Kids'

EAST SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- More than 200 golfers hit the greens for a good cause on Thursday: to keep kids warm when cold weather returns to the Valley.The 16th Annual Coats For Kids Golf Tournament was under way at Spring Hills Golf Club.

Organizers said 60 foursomes, or 240 golfers, were participating in the tournament.Charlie Corder, owner and organizer, said, "Everyone is here of the same reason. That's why we put it on: to raise money for the kids. It's a good cause."Corder said he expects to raise $13,000, all of which will go toward about 260 coats for local children.The tournament started at 5:50 a.m. and will wrap up at dusk.
