Man Suspected Of Shooting, Killing Postmaster In Custody

Friday, July 18, 2008 – updated: 12:19 am EDT July 19, 2008

Friday night police in Zanesville, Ohio, detained the man suspected of shooting and killing 35-year-old Lua Wolverton inside a Marshall County post office Friday afternoon.

Todd Dolin, 39 of Marshall County, is awaiting extradition back to Marshall County, where investigators said he will face a charge of murder in connection with Friday’s shooting.

Police said around 2:30 p.m. Dolin walked into the Dallas, W.Va., Post Office and shot Wolverton multiple times. Police said Wolverton, who was the postmaster, picked up the phone and called 911 to describe the shooter. While police won’t elaborate on the relationship between the two, NEWS9 has confirmed that Dolin and Wolverton did know each other.

Emergency crews initially rushed Wolverton to a Morgantown hospital, but she later died.

During the police investigation, they located the suspected murder weapon, which was left at the scene.

“I can’t believe this has taken police here today; it’s sad…very sad,” said a woman who knew Wolverton and lived in the small community of Dallas.
