Female Deputy Joins Ohio County Ranks

For only the second time in the history of the Ohio County's Sheriff's Department, a female deputy has joined the ranks.

A judge swore in Deputy Nichole Seifert on Tuesday. Seifert previously worked as a correctional officer at the West Virginia Department of Corrections in Moundsville.

The West Liberty State College graduate said it's an honor to follow in Lt. Bonnie Bonar's footsteps. Bonar was the county's first female deputy and worked for the department from 1976 to 2001.

"It's definitely a sense of pride to accomplish something like this," Seifert said.

Seifert said she's looking forward to continuing her career in law enforcement because she believes it's a rewarding field.
