WELLS TWP., Ohio -- Joseph Peckins of Smithfield was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital by medical helicopter for treatment of injuries he suffered in a car crash Monday morning.State troopers investigating the crash said Peckins' brother Chris, 20, had fallen asleep behind the wheel while the two were traveling to work. The car tumbled from State Route 151 and crashed into a home."He wasn't aware of anything going on until he made the first impact at the corner of the house," said Trooper Daniel Flohr. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports 100,000 police-reported crashes every year can be attributed to fatigued drivers.A study by the National Sleep Foundation shows people with narcolepsy or sleep apnea, young male drivers and people doing shift work are most at-risk for drowsy driving crashes."We see this in the morning when people get up early to go to work and they'll doze off," Flohr said.Chris Peckins was treated at Trinity Medical Center and released.
