Friday, August 15, 2008 – updated: 10:31 am EDT August 16, 2008

The state of Ohio just recently made the lottery game keno available to players in early August, and local business who now have the game in shop told NEWS9 that it's already a booming success.

According to state numbers, keno has already earned the Buckeye state $1.8 million in sales, and players have already won about $1.2 million in prizes.

Keno's only been available in Ohio for about two weeks, but Valley businesses operating with it said they can already see a difference in sales.

Tammy Manion works at the Golden Nugget in Bridgeport and she said it's been amazing what keno's done for them and for players.

"We've had some big winners and some small winners," Manion said.

So far, there are about 800 different businesses where keno is available in Ohio.

State lottery representatives said they hope to make it available in at least 2,000 different places by the end of the year.
