A man is in custody in Marshall County for allegedly trying to kill another Moundsville man early Tuesday morning.Police said Steven Allen Baker fired a bullet at a moving car, hitting the driver’s side door where Michael Wise was riding.Police said Baker set some of his ex-girlfriend’s belongings outside of his home so Wise and two other men could pick them up. When those men came by, they thought they dropped something and went back to Baker’s home to check and they told police that’s when they spotted Baker standing outside with a handgun. The men told police that Baker fired a single shot into the car door. Police did find the gun near Baker’s home.“The officers believed, given the location of the shoot in the door, had it been a larger-caliber gun and went through the door, it would have hit the driver. Since it was a .22, it didn’t completely penetrate the door,” said Sgt. Darren Whipkey.A judge arraigned Baker Tuesday and set bond at $50,000 for charges of attempted murder and wanton endangerment.Police said the alleged victim, Michael Wise, is also in jail. After Wise reported the shooting to police, they discovered there was a petty larceny warrant out for his arrest.
