Environmental Group Thinks About Wind

West Virginia is the nation’s second largest coal producing sate. An environmental group said it’s time to think about wind.

Coal River Mountain Watch is encouraging Massey Energy to stop plans to create a mountaintop removal mine in southern West Virginia.

A commissioned study suggests that up to 220 wind turbines could be placed along the mountain’s ridges to produce enough energy for 150,000 homes.
