Investigation Into Shadyside Teen's Death Continues

Wednesday, August 20, 2008 – updated: 4:19 am EDT August 21, 2008

Thursday officers are going to reconstruct the scene of the accident involving a Shadyside High School Student.

Devron Lunsford, 16, died last week after being hospitalized since a motorcycle crash that happened at the intersection of 48th and Central Avenue in downtown Shadyside.

The Belmont County community gathered Wednesday to remember Lunsford who was loved by so many.

"She lived life to the fullest. She was always happy -- loved everybody and everybody loved her," said Diane Good, a family friend of Lunsford.

A rising basketball star, Lunsford was described as energetic by those who gathered at the Bauchnect-Altmyer Funeral Home in Shadyside for funeral services.

"Today was the hardest day most of these people will face," Good said.

Family and friends took one last lap around Shadyside High School, just as Lunsford did so many times before.

At a makeshift memorial on 48th and Central streets, people left flowers, homemade signs and teddy bears to memorialize Lunsford.

As they said their goodbyes, family and friends gathered to the Shadyside Fire House to support one another.

"She would have wanted everyone to gather to celebrate her life," said one person. "Devron's motto was, 'Live life to the fullest. It's been a great ride.'"
