Troopers Ready For Holiday Weekend

Friday, August 29, 2008 – updated: 11:16 am EDT August 29, 2008

More than 34 million Americans are expected to travel over the Labor Day weekend, slightly down from last year.

The economy, housing, and gas prices are keeping some people at home but troopers are still hitting the roads to monitor speed and keep travel safe.

“Allow extra time to get to your destination, stay sober when you are driving and obey Ohio speed laws,” said Lt. Roger Norris, Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Gas prices in the Steubenville, Weirton area are averaging around $3.67 a gallon and a little higher in Wheeling at $3.72 a gallon.
