E.coli Kills Columbiana County Toddler

Workers at the Columbiana County Health Department are investigating how a 3-year-old girl contracted a deadly strain of E.coli.

The girl died Sept. 13 of kidney failure at Akron Children’s Hospital after becoming sick. She suffered from diarrhea, blood in her stool and vomiting.

Health department officials said they are collecting stool samples from family members and classmates of the girl to try to find out how she contracted it.

Officials said they may not get test results for another week.
