A former Carroll County teacher was arrested Thursday on charges of intimidating a witness.

Mark A. Common, 23, of Louisville, is a former Malvern High School teacher who was arrested and indicted earlier this year on sexual-battery-related charges.

Police allege Common had sexual relations with a 16-year-old female student.

The new arrest came after an investigation whether Common threatened witnesses involved in the case.

Common was charged with two third-degree felony counts of intimidation of a witness. He was taken into custody without incident at the Carroll County Sheriff's Office and was awaiting a bond hearing Thursday afternoon.
