OHIO COUNTY, W.Va. -- These days it seems just buying basics, like groceries or gas, can be a strain on the budget. That's why some local shoppers said they're already planning to reduce excessive holiday spending."I have seven grandchildren and 12 son-in-laws and daughter-in-laws to buy for, so yeah, we'll probably cut back a little," said Debbie Dorsey of Dallas, W.Va."It's hard for parents with a bunch of kids expecting Christmas gifts," said Georgia Maguire of Triadelphia. But some retailers at the Highlands in Ohio County aren't so sure everyone will be shaving their holiday budget. Managers at Russell Stover, Wal-Mart and Kohl's all said they're looking to hire holiday help in anticipation of a busy shopping season."I think people are going to make some different decisions and plan according to what we have to offer," said Wal-Mart manager Dominick D’Aurora.D'Aurora anticipates high sales numbers on black Friday this year, because he said people who may not normally shop that day could be out with the masses looking for bargains."Some great exciting things are coming out on the horizon. Most of it is electronics, which will be the highlight,” he said.JCPenney’s store manager said she’s currently working with the company’s corporate officials on her store's holiday season plan.
