13-Year-Old Leads Police On Chase In Stolen Car

With his younger twin brothers in tow, police said a 13-year-old boy stole a car, drove more than 100 miles and led police on a high-speed chase before crashing in Ohio County.“The vehicle appeared to be all over the roadway to me. Almost struck a couple of vehicles,” said Deputy G.J. Costello of the Ohio County Sheriff’s Department, who attempted to pull the driver over.Police said the teen stole the car from Columbus on Thursday. After school, he and his twin 11-year-old brothers went on a road trip, traveling two hours from Columbus to Wheeling.The boys spend the night sleeping in the car outside the Wheeling YWCA before hitting the road again at 5:40 a.m. Police said the boys were hoping to visit their mother in Wheeling.Costello said the driver was traveling very fast when he struck a hillside and telephone pole, causing the vehicle to roll over.The children were taken to Wheeling Hospital and Ohio Valley Medical Center with head and leg injuries.Police said the boys are in custody and are likely to be placed in the Lincoln Detention Center.
