Local Mother Charged With Burning Child

MOUNDSVILLE, W.Va. -- Moundsville police are charging Tammy Smith with five counts of child abuse and five counts of malicious wounding.Officers said she burned her 6-year-old daughter with a cigarette, even burned the word "wimp" into her daughter's neck.According to the report, school officials noticed the burns, which sparked an investigation through police and the Department of Health and Human Resources. Smith is now in the Northern Regional Jail.
