Local Karate Instructor Remembered During Holiday Parade
A week after his death, the town of Wintersville remembered its beloved karate instructor, Clarence West, during its holiday parade on Sunday.West's daughter, Nicole Jeffries, watched as the community paid tribute along the parade route."There's not one person who could ever fill his shoes. But I feel like with this type of love and this type of support we can all make his memory live on. It's going to take all of us," said Jeffries.People laid flowers where her father used to stand during the parade."He would always stand right outside his building and he would greet everybody that came by," said Wintersville Mayor Bob Gale.West died after suffering from smoke inhalation and investigators aren't sure how the fire started. They have ruled out arson.Family and friends will gather Monday for West's funeral.
