Tuesday marks the 22nd anniversary of the death of Jill Howard, the woman stabbed to death by her boyfriend at the time.

Now the Howard family, for the first time in 22 years, knows it was Michael Harris who killed her and he's behind bars.

Michael Harris was sentenced in Jefferson County Court back in November for the death of Howard. She was stabbed to death in Steubenville when she was 20 years old. Harris, who walked a free man for more than two decades, was found guilty of that murder and is serving his 15 years to life behind bars.

NEWS9 was told the prosecution did not have sufficient evidence to bring Harris to trial back in the late 1980s. It was his own DNA that led the current prosecution to trial and led to the conviction of Harris. Howard's family said they've got the justice they wanted for so many years.
