Traffic Snarled After Train Derails In Martins Ferry

Part of state Route 7 was closed for a short time Thursday after a Norfolk Southern train derailment.

The derailment happened near Nickles Bakery between Hanover and Aetna Streets in Belmont County.

Officials asked motorists to avoid state Route 7 in that area between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m.

There were no reported injuries.

Most of the construction was on Zane Highway. The Martins Ferry Volunteer Fire Department helped local police and the Ohio Highway Patrol re-route traffic.
