Traffic Snarled After Train Derails In Martins Ferry

MARTINS FERRY, Ohio -- Part of state Route 7 was closed for a short time Thursday after a Norfolk Southern train derailment.The derailment happened near Nickles Bakery between Hanover and Aetna Streets in Belmont County.Officials asked motorists to avoid state Route 7 in that area between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m.There were no reported injuries.Most of the construction was on Zane Highway. The Martins Ferry Volunteer Fire Department helped local police and the Ohio Highway Patrol re-route traffic.
