A local woman is charged with animal cruelty after she allegedly moved out of her house in August, but left her pets behind.Deputies said a neighbor found one dog near death. The animal was later euthanized.Deputies also said a dead guinea pig, bird and a dead dog were discovered inside the home.Brenda Magdich, who police said owned the animals, was arrested late Wednesday in Cameron on four felony counts of animal cruelty."(The dog) was emaciated. It had patches of hair missing from it. It was having seizures as our officers and animal control officer were there,” said Chief Deputy Kevin Cecil.According to police reports, Magdich offered a neighbor $150 to clean garbage from the Carl Street home after she moved. That’s when the neighbor discovered the dog, police said.“It looked like it had been left there for three or four days -- not even any water for it,” said Gene Milliken, who lives a few doors away from Magdich’s former home.At that time, deputies issued a warrant for Magdich, but she had left the area.Milliken said if Magdich is found guilty, he hopes justice will be served.Stay with NEWS9 and WTOV9.com for continuing coverage.
