Three days after a barge worker fell into the Ohio River, local crews have called off their efforts.

Officials say local voluteer resources are exhausted.

The search is now in the hands of a private dive team, Marion Hill Diving.

The Campbell Transportation Co., where Harvey worked, hired the divers.

The private company plans to resume the search Thursday morning.

Michael Harvey, 26, of Pittsburgh, is presumed to have died in the water Monday.

Harvey was last seen on a barge near the W. H. Sammis Power Plant in Jefferson County. The barge was on its way to deliver a load of coal to the power plant Monday afternoon.

Tuesday night, a cadaver dog picked up a scent in the area where crews have been searching, near where Harvey fell. Crews scoured the area, but had only found Harvey's life vest as of 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Harvey's family has been out along the river since Tuesday. They said they are not ready to comment but crews said they are optimistic they will find Harvey's body and give his family closure.
