Police: Nursing Home Resident Sexually Abused
Police Say Victim Has Alzheimer's Disease

As of late Sunday, Brooke County deputies were investigating a case of sexual abuse at an area nursing home.Sheriff Richard Ferguson told NEWS9 it happened at the Valley Haven Geriatric Center near Beech Bottom.Ferguson said around 2 p.m. Sunday nursing home workers called officers after they discovered an 81-year-old visitor fondling an 86-year-old resident with Alzheimer's disease.Ferguson said the 86-year-old woman is not aware of her surroundings, and the elderly man is facing a charge of abuse of an incapacitated person.The man is a relative of the alleged victim, according to Ferguson.The man's identity is not currently being released.Stick with NEWS9 for continuing coverage.
