W.Va., Pennsylvania Among States With New Salmonella Outbreak

Raw alfalfa sprouts have been linked to a salmonella outbreak in at least six states, including West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

The Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control have advised consumers to avoid the sprouts until further notice.

Illnesses linked to the salmonella contamination began popping up in March and may be ongoing.

Officials said some of the people who were sickened ate sprouts at restaurants, while others got sick after buying sprouts from grocery stores.

No deaths have been reported.
