Posted: 4:54 pm EDT May 10, 2009Updated: 6:16 pm EDT May 10, 2009

A Jefferson County man had to be airlifted to a local hospital after his ATV rolled onto him Saturday night.

It happened in Bergholz, deep in a wooded area near the fire department.

The Bergholz fire chief said 25-year-old Josh Carson was riding his ATV when it rolled sideways, crushing his head and chest.

Another man Carson was riding with had to drive out of the woods to town to call for help.

The fire chief said Carson had to undergo surgery after he was transported to Wheeling Hospital.

Hospital officials confirm Carson is still a patient, but couldn’t confirm his condition.
