Part Of U.S. 22 Closed For Bridge Replacement Work

Drivers in Jefferson County will be detoured this week as part of a $1.5 million bridge replacement project.

U.S. Route 22 eastbound was closed Monday morning near the Bloomingdale exit and traffic was being rerouted off the exit ramps and back on the highway. Crews said there were no traffic problems as of 11:30 a.m.

On Wednesday, crews are expected to close the westbound lanes. Officials said both directions of U.S. 22 in that area should be reopened by Friday evening.

The construction is part of the State Route 152 bridge replacement project. This week, contractors will erect the structural steel for the new bridge over Route 22.

The completion date for the $1.5 million is set for June 30.
