ATVs, Guns and More Stolen In String Of Burglaries

The Harrison County Sheriff's office has linked two suspects to a string of burglaries just outside Cadiz that started back in March.

Sheriff Ron Myers said Ricky Tanner and Nick Reppart are in jail and could each face nine counts of aggravated burglary.

He said the duo robbed at least nine hunting cabins on Brewer Road, Barger Road and Stone Plant Road.

The sheriff said his office recently heard from someone who had planned to buy a firearm, but once his office heard about the unique type of gun in question, they believed it was one of the ones involved in the burglaries.

Police said they traced the gun back to one of the suspects.

In total, the sheriff said the suspects may have stolen somewhere between $30,000 and $50,000 worth of items including seven ATVs, 30 firearms, hunting equipment and even a snow plow.

"To get in and be undetected has been amazing to us. But with this outcome today the two are in jail because of it," said Myers.

Myers said what's even more astonishing than what they managed to grab was how the managed to do it.

Most of the homes are gated up and sit far back from the roadway. Myers said the burglars were out scouting the homes on their ATVs.

His office believes the men were doing it all for fast cash.

"We believe they're trying to look for the quick dollar, for their own personal being or drug related," said Myers.

The sheriff said the investigation is far from over. He said police are still uncovering evidence and they believe there are others that could be connected to the crimes.
