Residents, Hospital Lose Water After Line Break

A major water line break in Harrison County left residents, businesses and an entire hospital without water.

Water was restored to Harrison Community Hospital Friday night, but residents will have to wait a little bit longer.

The hospital's emergency water plan went into effect and the local fire department started supplying them with water buffalos.

Hospital supervisor Nancy Solvey said patient care was under control.

"We have extra bottled water for the patients, so they're fine. We're just waiting for the buffalos to come in to fill the systems for the bathrooms and water to wash your hands," said Solvey.

A printing business next to the water line lost water. Across the street, taps in the Dunfee Court apartment complex ran dry too.

"No water in our apartment. Nothing. Not a drip even," said resident Chuck Hayes.

Residents said it's frustrating that just a couple weeks ago they were in the same boat, with the last break.

Some plan to go to relatives for help. Hayes said he’d go to the local creek.

The hospital's water was restored around 8 p.m., but the supervisor said water pressure was still very low.

Residents should be restored by Saturday. No boil order has been issued.
