A group of Valley residents caused quite a stirr Saturday afternoon, as they carried their guns right out in the open.

The idea is not sitting well with some people who have even called the police on the group's organizer.

Wayne Johnson is the organizer, and said it's opportunity for armed citizens to clean up their neighborhood, trash bags and gloves in hand, guns in holsters.

Johnson says he came up with the idea for the gathering after one of his neighbors called the police on him while he was walking with his wife and young children. Both he and his wife openly carried their guns.

"The police department exists to enforce the laws as they are written. They don't have to like them but they do have to enforce them as they are on the books. It's commonly said for citizens that ignorance of the law is no excuse and I think the same applies for police," said Johnson.
