Due to an inventory adjustment, ArcelorMittal has halted production at its tin mill this week.

Mark Glyptis, Local Union 2911 president, said employees had an option to take a vacation during the week. Those who didn't take a vacation are performing maintenance at the mill.

Glyptis said there is also talk of the mill being down for other weeks in the future, but that hasn't been officially determined.

He said the production stoppage is due to a poor economy.
