Posted: 4:46 pm EDT July 1, 2009Updated: 9:02 am EDT July 2, 2009

Starting Wednesday, a new program may make repaying student loans easier for some people.

The Income-Based Repayment program works by capping monthly payments based on how much a person earns and the amount of the loan.

The program also forgives the amount a person owes after 25 years. For people who work in public service, it forgives loans after 10 years.
