More People Cut Back For Fourth Of July

Posted: 8:24 pm EDT July 3, 2009Updated: 8:40 pm EDT July 3, 2009

It’s no secret most of us are feeling the effects of the slumping economy. With the holiday weekend upon us, most are making changes to tighten their budget.

For some this means staying closer to home with family -- even though gas prices are significantly lower than last year’s $4 a gallon prices.

Others are looking to save money by price shopping for fireworks. Prices for fireworks are more expensive in Pennsylvania and as a result some people are coming into Ohio for their celebration supplies. Cherrie Earl was one of those coming into Ohio from Pennsylvania and she told NEWS9, “We get flyers for fireworks in Pennsylvania, so that's how we found out about this place.”

Whether saving money or tightening their budgets, everyone NEWS9 spoke to is excited to celebrate Independence Day.
