Weirton Parade Draws Young, Old To City

Hundreds of folks lined the streets of downtown Weirton Saturday morning for the city's annual Fourth of July parade.

Council members and senators were among the parade entries, along with fire trucks and members of the military. Food vendors were out early cooking up traditional street fair food. The event drew in the young and the old and families from out of town.

“We're home visiting from Louisville, Kentucky. So we just like the hometown parade, the small atmosphere of coming home," said Shannon Rickards.

Some people said they make the parade an annual family event. Others said the parade was just the start to a day packed with barbecues, picnics and fireworks.
