A search is under way for a man who struck a deputy with his vehicle, Columbiana County dispatchers said.

The deputy was injured after the vehicle struck him on Old Irondale Road in Wellsville Sunday around 3 p.m.

Dispatchers said the accident happened when the deputy chasing the vehicle pulled in front of it; the deputy then got out of his car and signaled the driver to pull over. The driver then struck the deputy, pushing him into the hillside.

The deputy was taken to a local hospital and treated for injuries.
