Local Group Cries Foul in Moore Case

Posted: 10:34 pm EDT July 15, 2009Updated: 6:46 am EDT July 16, 2009

Jerry Moore is the Bridgeport man accused of robbing an Insta-Cash back in November 2006.

Since then, the prosecutor's office has tried him twice for the same charge with both jury trials ending in mistrials.

Moore is scheduled to be tried a third time, something his uncle, John Moore, believes is outright wrong. He and more than a dozen others have created a group called, Citizens for Justice.

"You know they say justice is blind. We want to take the blind fold off for people to see what exactly is going on,"said John Moore, chairperson.

"It was difficult decision to make and one that we couldn't let outside influences or pressure make for us. Ultimately it came down to the fact that the citizens of Bridgeport and Belmont County deserve a jury's answer," said Chris Berhalter, Belmont County prosecutor.

"Why is a prosecutor being allowed to spend money on another trial where there has been no new evidence," said Moore.
