Stimulus Money Leads To Free Home Improvements

Hundreds of folks in need throughout the northern panhandle of West Virginia are getting thousands of dollars worth of home improvements for free.

Change Incorporated CEO Judy Raveaux said thanks to $2.8 million in stimulus money, it’s now able to make weatherization improvements on 366 homes over the next two years. That's in comparison to the 50 to 60 they were able to do in years past.

Raveaux said to get all the work done Change Incorporated hired extra manpower and bought more trucks and equipment.

Homeowners who qualify can receive up to $6,400 worth of repairs and replacements to things like their insulation, furnaces, refrigerators, piping, etc.

Raveaux said that Change Incorporated previously had a two to three year waiting list, but the stimulus money is helping to chip away that wait.
