A registered sex offender accused of raping a local teen was arraigned Thursday morning.

Victor Stevens, 42, of Powhatan Point, is charged with rape and aggravated burglary.

Police said Stevens climbed through a 16-year-old girl's window and raped her at knifepoint. In the midst of the struggle, the victim took the knife from her attacker and stabbed him in the chest, police said.

Soon after the girl was attacked, police received a call of a bloody man walking along Mount Victory Road outside Powhatan Point. A K-9 unit tracked Stevens' scent and located him at his home nearby.

When a NEWS9 reporter asked Stevens if he had anything to say after his arraignment, Stevens said, "You shouldn't air stories unless you know the whole truth."

Stevens did not elaborate.

Police said Stevens sexually assaulted at 13-year-old handicapped girl in 2007.

He remains in the Belmont County Jail and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Sept. 3 at 9:30 a.m.
