Posted: 3:40 pm EDT October 14, 2009Updated: 6:47 pm EDT October 14, 2009

Police in Ohio County are searching for an armed man who robbed a flower shop in broad daylight Wednesday afternoon.

The robbery happened at Warwood's Florist at Third Street and Warwood Avenue around 2:40 p.m. Police said the man pulled a gun from the pocket of his hooded sweatshirt and demanded money. The man escaped with $150 and an employee chased him down the road until she lost sight of him.

The robber is described as a white male between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall in his 30s or 40s. He has short salt-and-pepper hair and a salt-and-pepper goatee.

The employee said he is more angry than scared, and said she hopes the thief is caught soon. Both she and the shop owner told NEWS9 the man was inside the store for several minutes looking around, and even asked about the price of some angel figurines on display.

After several minutes of pacing in the store, the robber pulled out his gun and demanded cash.

The shop owner said she saw the same man wandering outside near the store earlier in the day, so she hopes someone else saw him and can provide a tip that will help police track him down.

Anyone with information is asked to call police or the NEWS9 Lauttamus Security Crimebusters Tipline at 800-862-BUST.
