Police have new evidence in the armed robbery case that has rocked Toronto residents.

After the armed robbery at the Toronto Apothecary Tuesday, a witness saw the robber ditch his sweatshirt and now police have it.

"He was taking his garbage out and the guy come running through the parking lot, took off his [hooded sweatshirt] and threw it in the Dumpster. At that time, he didn't know there was just a robbery," said Capt. Randy Henry of the Toronto Police Department.

The robber ditched the sweatshirt at the Riviera Apartments Dumpster, which isn't far from the Apothecary where the robber held a woman at gunpoint demanding methadone.

"Hopefully we can get some DNA off either hair strands or some sweat off of the sweatshirt," said Henry.

Police say they're pretty certain the Toronto robber is the same man who held up the Rite-Aid pharmacy in Weirton. Investigators said a man matching the same description used a knife there and demanded the same drugs.

Lab results from the sweatshirt could take a while, so police are hoping the public can help.

"Please call either the police station or NEWS9 Crimebusters. Let us know. We'll follow up all the leads we get," said Henry.
