BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio -- A fire ripped through a Belmont County home Sunday, destroying it. But it's who lived there that's raising some questions. The trailer belonged to Victor Stevens, a Belmont County man who was accused then acquitted of breaking into a Belmont County home in an attempt to rape a 16-year-old girl. But a jury acquitted him this past week, because of lack of evidence. Officials said that raises the question: could the blaze have been deliberately set?At this time, the cause of the fire at the trailer along Mount Victory Road in Powhatan Point is not known, or even if it appears to be suspicious.Investigators said that no one was inside the trailer when the fire started just after 1 p.m. Sunday.Stay with NEWS9 and WTOV9.com for continuing coverage.
